Heartfulness Meditation: What is it and How can it help you?

Updated: Sep 1, 2020

The word meditation is defined as the art of contemplation or thinking about one specific thing. Essentially, you bring your mind to a single point of focus, either on an object or an activity or a thought.

Meditation can also be seen as a technique to train the mind to focus on one specific thing for a period of time. The human brain’s natural function is to think, and through the process of association, the brain jumps from one thought to another throughout the day. Our mind is not naturally trained to focus on one specific thing at a time, thus arises the need for meditation.

The benefits of meditation are plentiful. On one hand, meditation helps improve your focus, concentration, and productivity. It also helps bring down your stress and anxiety levels while improving the quality of your sleep. On the other hand, it also helps you in developing inner qualities such as being calm, joyous, and feeling peaceful and simple.

One important determinant of the effects of meditation is the object of meditation itself. Based on the properties of the object we choose to meditate upon, the effects of the meditation will vary. Thus it is important to pick a meditation practice with the right object of meditation.

The Heartfulness Institute is an NGO that teaches the art of meditation to aspirants from across the globe for free. With a network of over 10,000 trainers worldwide they introduce seekers to a heart-based meditation technique. A heart-based meditation technique is one in which you bring your attention and awareness to your heart region and meditate on that. This is called Heartfulness Meditation.

We all hear about the benefits of meditation and want to try it out. So why wait for the “right time”. Isn’t now the right time to bring a positive change in your life?
